GEOSTUD elaborates a diverse range of studies, projects and geotechnical works, which aim the execution and monitoring of the behavior in operation of the constructions, respectively:
Geotechnical studies for civil and industrial construction projects, roads, bridges, railways, airports, wind farms, waterways, tunnels, hydrotechnical constructions, stability of land masses etc.
Studies on the quality control of the works execution on the site.
The Department of Geotechnics and GEOSTUD laboratories carry out research and development studies in national and international projects in the fields of geotechnics, geophysics and geochemistry, respectively:
Theoretical and experimental researches for establishing correlations between the strength and deformation characteristics of the foundation ground at the infrastructure works;
Experimental studies to quantify the additional cohesion and stretching efforts induced in geosynthetic-reinforced soils;
Methodological guide on the control of the geosynthetic materials used for the rehabilitation and execution of public roads, highways, railways, airports, parking platforms etc.
Study of risk factors for railways, from the point of view of landslides, floods and earthquakes;
Study on the design and execution of works to protect the infrastructures of the bridges degraded by the scouring;
Development of hazard and risk maps for landslides etc.
Geotechnical drilling with sampling of disturbed and undisturbed samples class A;
Groundwater monitoring wells;
Other field investigations (PDG / DPH, PSDG / DPSH, CPT, CPTu, ERI, MASW, dilatometric tests, presiometric, piezometric, inclinometric, electrometric tests etc.);
Rock tests (all types of soils).
