GEOSTUD, host of an international delegation within the Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) project

Geostud was visited by an international delegation within the framework of the Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) project - a strategic initiative aimed at developing a state-of-the-art production facility for modular construction in Romania. The event brought together specialists from the construction, academic and investment sectors, interested in the application of the latest technologies and sustainable methods in the development of the homes of the future.

On the agenda of the visit were technical presentations, experience exchange sessions and applied discussions on the prospects of implementing the MMC production unit in Romania - a project with a major impact on accelerating the delivery of affordable and energy-efficient housing, creating new jobs, developing local skills and strengthening our country's position as a regional hub in the field of advanced construction technologies.

The delegation consisted of:
- Mr. Simeon Wood - Infrastructure Consultant and MMC Project Leader with over 30 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure industry;
- Mr. Ian Waddingham - Managing Director QED Structures, specialist in the design of modular and prefabricated structures;
- Prof. Kirk Chang and Dr. Alina Maria Văduva - representatives of the University of East London, experts in innovation, sustainability and organizational development.

During the meeting we visited Geostud's headquarters and laboratories in Bucharest, where our team presented the integrated technological flow underlying the company's activity: from sampling and field data collection, to environmental analysis, testing and trials on soil, rock and geosynthetics, to the elaboration of geotechnical studies applied for large infrastructure projects.

Discussions also focused on the potential for collaboration in areas such as the automation of construction processes, digitization of design and testing activities, and the integration of sustainable solutions into production infrastructure. During these discussions, the international delegation emphasized Romania's strategic role in the adoption of Modern Methods of Construction at European level, by combining local technical competence with international innovation and know-how.

The visit was a valuable opportunity for dialogue and cooperation between specialists from complementary fields, highlighting the role of applied research and technological innovation in the evolution of the construction industry. Geostud continues to support projects that promote modernization, sustainability and professional excellence in geotechnics and infrastructure.
