Geostud at the kick-off of the SWIM project - “Sustainable Water and Integrated Management of Fish Migration and their Habitats in the Danube River Basin and NW Black Sea”

On September 25-27, 2025, the Geostud team, formed by Dr. Raluca Nicolae, Vlad Sandu and Ana-Maria Găman, participated in the kick-off event of the SWIM project, held in Zagreb. The project brings together 42 partners from 16 countries and is funded by the Horizon Europe program

SWIM aims to identify and implement innovative solutions for the conservation of habitats of migratory fish species in the Danube River Basin and the north-western Black Sea region. The project includes 13 activities implemented in 7 demonstration sites, focusing on habitat connectivity, water quality and overall aquatic ecosystem condition. Within the project, Geostud contributes through:

  • the preparation of baseline and environmental impact assessment studies;
  • monitoring biotic (species, habitats) and abiotic (water parameters, sediments) factors in the targeted sites.

Participating in the launch of the SWIM project gave the Geostud team the opportunity to collaborate with European partners in the field of environment and applied research, exchanging expertise and best practices on the protection of aquatic ecosystems. By being involved in this project, the company contributes to the development of scientific and technical solutions that support biodiversity conservation and sustainable management of natural resources.
