On September 11, 2025, at Novotel Bucharest City Centre, Geostud had the honor of being co-organizer of the international conference “Future Forward: The Romanian-Turkish Partnerships in Construction & Infrastructure Projects”, together with the Romanian Society of Construction Law and the Society of Construction Law Türkiye. The event brought together international experts, consultants, lawyers, and representatives of public authorities from Romania, providing an opportunity for dialogue and knowledge exchange on current topics in the field of construction and infrastructure.
During the opening session, Mr. Petru Nicolae, CEO and General Director of Geostud, delivered a keynote speech in which he highlighted the challenges and essential directions for the construction and infrastructure industry:
- the role of subcontractors in public procurement – recognition of their importance by the authorities and the respect of their rights in practice, since geotechnical and environmental studies are fundamental to the success of large projects;
- the perception of costs – the need to look beyond short-term savings and to consider the real value of studies as an investment in risk reduction, compliance with standards, and sustainable implementation;
- differences in international practices – the difficulties of aligning Romanian and Turkish standards, especially regarding the way geotechnical studies are carried out, and the importance of harmonizing approaches.

In conclusion, Mr. Petru Nicolae emphasized that the correct recognition of the role of subcontractors, a realistic perception of costs, the harmonization of international practices, compliance with quality and standards, as well as the protection of subcontractors’ rights are fundamental principles without which infrastructure projects cannot be implemented successfully, sustainably, and in the interest of all stakeholders involved.
The conference brought together international experts, consultants, lawyers, and representatives of public authorities from Romania. We were pleased to welcome to the event Mr. Radu Urziceanu, Director of the Strategy, Regulations, and External Representation Department - CFR Infrastructure, and Mr. Gabriel Budescu, General Director –National Road Investment Company(CNIR).
The event confirmed Geostud’s role as a promoter of cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of construction and infrastructure at the international level.
