Tulcea, May 6-10, 2025<\/strong> - Tulcea hosted the fifth General Assembly of the European project Danube Wetlands Restoration (DAWetRest)<\/strong>, an initiative dedicated to restoring wetlands and floodplains along the Danube. The project aims to contribute to restoring the ecological functions of these ecosystems through innovative, sustainable, and cooperative actions between the Danube basin states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by partner organizations from several European countries, together with representatives of public authorities, research institutions, environmental NGOs and other actors involved in the management of natural resources and wetlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the fifth General Assembly, participants reviewed the progress of restoration activities in the demonstration sites and the involvement of local communities in the restoration process. They also set long-term goals and planned how to implement future activities to achieve these goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This came as a result of the participants' attendance at workshops and field visits, where they had the opportunity to study the results of the restoration interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Geostud<\/strong> was present at the meeting, providing technical input in the field of ecological restoration and environmental monitoring. Geostud\u2019s participation included of specialized presentations, applied sessions and thematic workshops, in which the progress made in the first two years of project implementation, as well as the difficulties encountered in the field or in the coordination processes, were analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions also focused on setting strategic directions for the next phase of the project, with an emphasis on locally adapted solutions, cross-sectoral collaboration and community involvement in ecological restoration. Geostud's presence at this General Assembly reflects the continuity of collaboration within the project and its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to increasing the resilience of river ecosystems and the responsible use of natural resources.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
