Practical experience is the foundation of a solid career in ecology, giving students the opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into concrete field skills. With this conviction, Geostud had the pleasure to be actively involved in the internship of first year students of the Faculty of Biology, Ecology section.
As part of this collaboration, we shared our practical expertise with future ecologists, demonstrating and explaining a range of activities essential to ecological field research. Students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with diverse professional methodologies, from classical techniques to modern biodiversity monitoring technologies.
- Practical activities included demonstrations and exercises for:
- Proper implementation and use of motion sensor camera monitoring systems
- Walking transects in forest habitats, with an emphasis on identifying and interpreting signs and tracks left by mammal species
- Specialized night monitoring techniques for invertebrates using light traps
- Modern methodologies for acoustic monitoring of chiroptera populations
- Application of specific methods for the identification and study of herpetofauna and avifauna species
- Dead wood prospecting techniques and identification of saproxylic invertebrate species

This experience was more than just an exchange - it was an opportunity to inspire and guide the next generation of ecology professionals. We are grateful to the Department of Ecology in the Faculty of Biology for being open to collaboration and for the chance to contribute to the professional development of future ecologists.
Geostud remains dedicated to supporting practical education in the field of ecology and reaffirms its commitment to contribute to the training of professionals who will shape the future of biodiversity conservation in Romania.
