As part of the European project DAnube WETlands RESToration (DaWetRest), representatives of Geostud (GEOS) and the Climate, Atmosphere and Water Research Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (CAWRI-BAS) held a strategic bilateral meeting dedicated to strengthening collaboration and operational efficiency within the consortium.

The agenda also included an evaluation of the results of the international workshop "Scaling Up Innovations to Market and Job Creation in the Blue Economy," held in Tutrakan, Bulgaria, on June 18–19, 2025. The event brought together specialists, researchers, and decision-makers interested in the potential of the blue economy and the application of innovations for sustainable development in the Danube region. During the event, Geostud presented business models based on the responsible use of natural resources and solutions for wetland restoration, contributing to the creation of green jobs and to strengthening local economic resilience.

The GEOS–CAWRI-BAS meeting highlighted the importance of direct dialogue between partners and its role in European projects involving multiple areas of expertise. The activities planned within DaWetRest will support the development of a replicable model for the ecological management of wetlands in the Danube basin, with benefits for environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
