The Geostud Summer School 2025 began on July 21 with a series of activities dedicated to training young specialists in environmental protection. The event, organized by the Geostud team together with partners from Natura5, blends theory with practice and offers participants the opportunity to become familiar with the real challenges of the field. During the opening session, students took part in an applied discussion with Petru Nicolae, CEO and General Director of Geostud; Raluca Ioana Nicolae, Technical Director of the Environmental Department; Ștefan Popescu, Head of the Environmental Department; and Ana Găman, representative of Natura5 for sustainable development, who emphasized the importance of applied training and spoke about career opportunities in environmental protection.

The program continued with a practical expedition in the Lake Morii area of Bucharest, guided by biologist Victor Ștefănescu, where participants discovered the biological diversity of the urban ecosystem. Key species in the area were identified, habitats were assessed, and environmental pressures were analyzed. With the support of Geostud specialists, the students applied modern monitoring methods and used specific equipment for collecting field data.
This comprehensive experience highlights the role of an integrated and hands-on approach in training the new generation of professionals in environmental protection and reaffirms Geostud’s commitment to supporting education and contributing to the development of a sustainable future.
