We are honored to announce Geostud's participation in the Danube Lighthouse launch conference on April 3-4, 2023. This initiative is a vital component of the European Union's mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030", which aims to protect and restore marine and freshwater ecosystems through research, innovation and the active involvement of all relevant stakeholders - from authorities and NGOs to citizens.
The launch conference, organized through a joint effort of the Ministry of Environment, the European Commission and EcoDaLLi, took place in two emblematic locations in the capital: the Parliament Palace and the Faculty of Transport of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest. The event marked the beginning of an ambitious initiative to protect and restore aquatic ecosystems along the Danube and its Delta.
In this mission, the European Commission is pursuing concrete objectives: preventing and eliminating pollution, protecting biodiversity and developing sustainable activities along the entire Danube. We are pleased to contribute to one of the four strategic objectives on the European Union's seas and river basins. To achieve these objectives, the European Commission has allocated a substantial budget of €117 million through the Horizon Europe funding program for the period 2021-2027.
Participation in the Danube Lighthouse conference gave us a valuable opportunity to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation in the field of environmental protection. Through dialogue and collaboration with organizations and experts from the region, we aim to identify and implement effective solutions for the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems.
At Geostud, we have made it our mission to be an active participant in promoting sustainability and environmental protection. Our involvement in the Danube Lighthouse project, together with our partners in the field, is an important step in our ongoing effort to generate positive change and contribute to the sustainable development of the region and its natural ecosystems.
