Geostud with Natura 5 at the UN COP28 World Climate Change Conference

From November 30 to December 13, 2023, Geostud and Natura 5 participated in the UN COP28, the world's most important conference dedicated to combating climate change. This year's hosting of UN COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, marked the conclusion of the first "global stocktaking" of the efforts of over 85,000 participants, including over 150 heads of state and government, to address climate change under the Paris Agreement.

The aim of the event was to highlight the need to accelerate climate action in all areas - from reducing greenhouse gas emissions, building resilience to a changing climate, transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables such as wind and solar, to securing financial and technological support for vulnerable nations - so that by 2030 greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by at least 43% and the 1.5°C global temperature limit is maintained.

Geostud and Natura 5 were part of the Romanian delegation at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, with an exhibition stand in the Innovation Zone pavilion. In such a setting, the representatives of the two entities had the opportunity to present to the participants of the event, the projects they are developing and the results achieved so far, as well as to distribute information materials.

Geostud participated for the second consecutive year in this event, its active involvement in the implementation of climate change adaptation and resilience measures being natural, in the context in which the company's major concerns are oriented towards research and studies services for environmental protection. At the UN COP28, Geostud has publicly emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to project planning and management in relation to climate change. It has also been involved in addressing and supporting topics on mitigation and adaptation measures, circular economy, energy reduction, waste management and decarbonization.

The NGO Natura 5 promotes nature awareness and social responsibility, focusing on biodiversity conservation and the effects of climate change. During the event, Natura 5 representatives presented the NGO's work and future plans, including the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center - a project with high potential in the area of research and education, designed to contribute to Natura 5's main goal of biodiversity conservation.

Geostud and Natura 5 also participated in the side-event "Decarbonizing the Nile & Valley and Danube Delta Ecosystems: Challenges and Innovative Solutions" organized together with the partners of the 3D initiative and Egyptian colleagues from Sohay Inn, Sohag University, Nile University and Beni-Suef University, which presented the parallels between the Danube Delta and the Nile Delta in terms of economic activities, biodiversity conservation, social dynamics and potential for applying best practices between the two regions.

Geostud, together with Natura 5, will contribute to achieving these goals by implementing action plans on environmental protection and climate change mitigation, in the context of the guidelines set by national and international protocols.
